About Nicergoline Ergot alkaloid(an ergoloid mesylate derivative), Antidementia, a cerebral vasodilator and in peripheral vascular disease. Mechanism of Action of Nicergoline Nicergoline has alpha adrenolytic action which activates blood flow to the brain, lowers vascular resistances, stimulates the use of glucose and oxygen in the brain, increases metabolism of brain cells and protect the brain from insufficient oxygen supply. Nicergoline slows the deposit of the age pigment Lipofuscin in the brain and prevents the free radical damage to brain cells. Nicergoline produces increased intelligence, memory, learning and recall.
