Medicine Description
About Erythropoietin A glycoprotein hormone produced by kidney, Colony Stimulating Factor, Erythropoiesis-stimulating agents, antianemic agent. Mechanism of Action of Erythropoietin It induces erythropoiesis in a dose dependent manner by binding to specific receptors on target cell surface and alters phosphorylation of intracellular proteins. It acts on erythroid marrow stimulates proliferation of colony forming cells of the erythroid series. It induces haemoglobin formation, erythroblast maturation and releases reticulocytes in circulation.
